About Ketl Limited.
Ketl was founded in 2002 by Ian Cray. Ian has over 20 years experience in the Business Intelligence and Management Information Systems field having worked on projects to deliver EIS, MIS, Data Warehouses and large Data Migration using both ETL tools and hand coded solutions.
Due to the current growth in functionality and acceptance of Commercial Open Source software Ketl has decided to expand to support it. We see it as an opportunity to apply our experience, gained mainly in large corporate environments to smaller companies who, historically, could not afford the heavy licence fees of proprietry software.
In order to provide the best possible value to clients Ketl specialises in Commercial Open Source software provided by the likes of Talend and Jaspersoft.
There are many myths about Open Source Software however you only need to look at products such as Redhat, Apache, Firefox and Open Office to realise how much of what we do on computers rely on this type of software.
Commercial Open Source doesn't necessarily mean free! There are usually free versions which are very functional allowing for plenty of opportunity to get to test the products. Some charge for 'Enterprise' versions and most charge for support. Realistically any organisation running production systems on Open Source software should consider support contracts.
Commercial Open Source doesn't mean untested or uncontrolled releases! The road maps and testing of the commercial versions of Open Source Software are usually controlled by the company. The communities provide a massive and proactive developement and testing resource.
