ETL - Informatica vs Open Source
Although we have over 10 years experience using Informatica PowerCenter and are big fans of the product we feel it may not suit smaller projects or smaller companies so we are now able to offer Commerical Open Source alternatives. These have grown in capability at an extraordinary rate and are now beginning to appear in Gartners Magic Quadrant for ETL tools. We are now Silver Partners with Talend - the leading Open Source ETL vendor.
Database design
For BI purposes we are firm believers in the benefits of adopting the Kimball methodology for Star Schema designs. Over the years we have found them to be exremely robust, flexible, efficient and fast. We can do the the design for you or better still advise your in-house teams.
Report Design
We can assist with the delivery and design of standard reports, OLAP Analysis and Dashboards. As with the ETL tools there is a strong growth in Open Source options including one of our favourites Jaspersoft.
Hosting - Database and Applications
We are now able to arrange hosting of all aspects of BI. We can provide the ETL software, storage, backup and web based reporting and analysis on a monthly subscrition basis.
Support
Currently we provide 24/7 support for the Data Warehouse for a major international high street fashion retailer and we are able to extend this service to all our clients.
